Softball
One of my biggest inspirations is Jennie Finch. She is also a first baseman. She has training videos and I have learned so much from her. She is amazing! Her videos show positioning while you waiting for the ball to be hit. She played for University of Arizona. I have watched her play before when we went to visit my grandparents. She is a right handed batter. She can also hit with her left hand. One of my goals in the off season was to get comfortable with bunting and hitting right and left. I was able to accomplish that goal.
I had my first practice of the season on Monday. My coaches name is Carson. She is such a good coach because she is fresh out of college softball. She has also played for 15 years. She has played many positions and knows a lot about them. Last night we were hitting off of the pitching machine and the speed of the ball coming off of that wheel is 45 mph. That's fast! Some of us can from 12u where the speed was only 30-35. So we went up about 15 mph in the matter of a year. She was very patient with us since she knew it was a big transition. I'm so extremely grateful to have her as my coach this year.
One of my coaches from previous years is Jennifer Cook. I absolutely love her shes such an inspiration. She played all of her life. She grew up out here so she knows her players pretty well. She is very positive and never doubts anything you put your heart to. I want to be like her when I'm older because she is a good coach and lots of kids request to have her as a coach because she loves the sport so much.
Lastly, I'm so pumped for this upcoming season. I have waited a whole year to play again. Our first game is the first week of May. We have a few more weeks to practice but I think my team will go onto that field and rock it. We haven't had a practice yet where everyone has all made it but were hoping everyone will make it tonight.
